And Man created the computer. A huge machine with lots of cables that made a lot of noise. Then he saw that it was good. And he created the laptop. He declined it in several models. The transportable computers are thick, heavy, and solid. The portable computers are ergonomic, and classic. The notebooks and netbooks are very thin, and very easy to carry, even by hand. The ultra-portable computers and the ultra-books are even thinner! The tablets are completely tactile! The mini-tablets! And finally… the hybrid laptop.
A tool full of surprises and new features
PC or tablet? You have to choose!
What characterizes the hybrid is above all its appearance. Until then, laptops had been refined to the point of making them almost as flat and thin as an A4 sheet of paper, but they remained computers nonetheless, with a flap opening at an angle barely greater than 90°.
This hybrid computer is a true clone, a genetic cross between the laptop we know and the more recent touchscreen tablet, which is now – and will remain – an integral part of the international electronic and audiovisual landscape for a long time.
Here, the flap allows the screen to be turned over and placed on the back of the case. Better! Other models offer a pure and simple dissociation of the screen and the rest of the PC. In other words, the hybrid laptop can be transformed into a tablet and transformed back into a PC, at will. You can even adjust the angle to use the case as a tripod!
Performance worthy of any computer
Of course, the hybrid computer generally has a smaller screen, between 10 and 13 inches. But! In terms of performance, a hybrid laptop can easily support an Intel Core i5 processor and a Windows 8 or 10 operating system. To put it simply, these are features found on today’s most powerful computers.
And for video game and/or web design enthusiasts, a hybrid can even support a more than decent graphics card! On the other hand, small size also means less storage space. To save space, the hard drive, often massive, is most of the time replaced on the hybrid laptop by an SSD card, which will not allow you to store more than a hundred GB… but that’s not a problem! Nothing prevents you from connecting your hybrid to an external hard drive!
A use free from all the constraints of a tablet… while retaining its advantages!
This modular PC in tablet form keeps as its main interest its very great proximity with the computer universe specific to computers. Touch tablets have made a triumphant entry on the market because their ergonomics had never been equal.
But their operating system was often far inferior to that of computers, and their very structure was in any case poorly adapted to the tools specific to conventional computing (there were connection problems with external hard drives for example, and 3G keys were incompatible).
The user was limited to browsing the Internet and watching movies, sometimes even playing not-too-advanced video games… The hybrid has completely changed the rules of the game. Coldly received because it seemed uninteresting compared to laptops that were already equipped with touch screens, the hybrid laptop ended up seducing for its convergence capabilities!
What does that mean? Quite simply, the hybrid, equipped with a Windows system, allows you to accomplish tasks on a tablet that were previously reserved exclusively for your computer. Better yet! You can also transfer your tasks from your hybrid laptop to your computer via your Windows account. Not to mention the software and video games reserved for computers that you can now enjoy on a tablet format.
